Have you visited the exhibition yet?

Dear readers in Uppsala! (Or anyone planning to visit Uppsala soon) The German Contemporary exhibition will be open for two more weeks. The opening hours are 12-16 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 12-17 on Saturday and Sunday. Konstbrukets exhibition Dialog Kleinsassen in Kulturkafét have different opening hours and it will be open for one more month until 9/8.

After viewing the artworks I recommend having a coffe in the small park ”Valdemar Langlets park”.  This week the exhibition is manned by me, Christina Hillheim, and this years swedish scholarship holder Adina Almén.
Welcome!

Konstbrukets summer exhibition

Some of you may remember that there will be a small group exhibition at Kulturcafét inspired by the artworks in the German Contemporary exhibition. Konstbrukets exhibition will open the day before German Contemporary, friday 5th of june, with some music performed by the artists from konstbruket. Konstbruket is a work placement for people with neurospychiatric disabilities who practice art. It is a day activity center according to the Act of Support and Service for people with disability – LSS – and a part of the system of liberty in the council of Uppsala. They have been approved by the County and the Council.

Themes and techniques in Swedish, and a sketch in the background

Themes and techniques in Swedish, and a sketch in the background

The artists have now started working on the exhibition. Today we thoroughly analysed the themes and techniques in a selection of pictures of artworks by the participating german artists. There will be different personal interpretations, some will probably be paraphrases but some will be inspired by the german artworks in a more subtle way.

Christopher Valenkamph made a quick first sketch that is a collage of all the artworks. If you look closely maybe you can regognize the lines from Mitko Sabev Ivanovs sculptures, a face from Ulrich Barnickels sculptures and some sheep by Bernd Baldus. This is only a first draft but I am sure that this dialogue will culminate in an interesting exhibition/Christina
